Reed Gold Mine State Historic Site:

Reed Gold Mine is the site of the first documented gold find in the United States. From this discovery, gold mining spread gradually to nearby counties and eventually into other southern states. During its peak years gold mining was second only to farming in the number of North Carolinians it employed. The estimated value of gold recovered reached over one million dollars a year. North Carolina led the nation in gold production until 1848, when it was eclipsed by the great rush to California.

Concord Museum:

Whether it is learning about the roots of American democracy, the consequences of individual choice, the beauty of the landscape, or the intricacies of fine craftsmanship, the Concord Museum brings history into the lives of learners of all ages. The Museum offers distinctive interactive school programs, intriguing tours for adult learners, innovative public programs and a year-round calendar of special events.

Frank Liske Park:

Frank Liske Park, 4001 Stough Road, Concord...Located in the central part of Cabarrus County, this beautiful 200 acre park used to be a working farm. Relics of its past still are available for the public's enjoyment, including a refurbished dairy barn and silo. This large barn is a popular spot for family and community gatherings. Park amenities include a 9 acre lake for fishing and paddle boating. The barn provides facilities for group picnics, reunions, cookouts, banquets, dances, and meetings and is home base for the Parks Department's annual summer day camp. Located near the barn are horseshoes, volleyball, picnic tables, and a playground. The Park also includes lighted tennis courts, picnic shelters, walking, fitness, and nature trails, and a miniature golf course.




Lowes Motor Speedway Concord:

The infield of Lowe's Motor Speedway will be filled with thousands of classic hot rod roadsters and colorful custom masterpieces when the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals cruises into town Friday through Sunday. The 16th annual California-based Goodguys car show is a giant outdoor event featuring more than 2,000 pre-1972 hot rods, custom cars, classics, muscle cars and trucks. Lil' deuce coupes, hot rod roadsters, chopped Merc customs, Hemi Cuda's, Six Pack Challengers, Boss 429 Mustangs, Pontiac GTO's and many other specialty vehicles will be on display at the 1.5-mile superspeedway.



Concord Mills:

Concord Mills is a 1.4 million square foot shopping mall located in Concord, North Carolina. The mall is in Cabarrus County, just a few hundred feet from the Mecklenburg County border, and about 12 miles (19 km) from downtown Charlotte. One of two shopping malls in Concord, it was built & formerly operated by the Mills Corporation before the acquisition of the Mills Corporation by Simon Malls. It is North Carolina's largest tourist attraction, attracting 17.6 million visitors in 2005. The mall is located about a mile from Lowe's Motor Speedway.


Zmax Speedway:

CzMAX Dragway is a brand new dragstrip located in Concord next to Tom Johnson Campground and less than a mile from Lowe's Motor Speedway. From the facility's lavish amenities to the ability to race the fastest-accelerating machines on the planet four abreast, the Bellagio of drag strips has already carved its niche in the annals of drag racing history in less than two years of existence.


Concord Speedway:

Concord Speedway is a motorsports facility located in the town of Midland, North Carolina, southeast of Concord, North Carolina.The park consists of two tracks: a 1/2 mile tri-oval and a 1/4 mile oval. The tri-oval seats 8,500 fans with room for 28 RVs, the 1/4 mile track seats 2,050. Additionally, the track has several air conditioned suites located behind the main grandstand. Concord is home to several racing series including the Whelen All-American Series and the Whelen Southern Modified Tour.The track is active as a site for the filming of several television commercials, television shows and music videos.



The Cabarrus Arena & Events Center:

The Cabarrus Arena & Events Center is located in Concord, North Carolina, about 10-miles northeast of Charlotte.The complex consisits of a main arena, Event Center A & B, Gold Halls 1 & 2, and 3 meeting rooms.The venue is home to many, trade and consumer shows, local and regional sporting events, Regional and National Dog and Horse shows. It was home to the Carolina Thunder and the Carolina Speed team. The main arena serves as the venue for commencement ceremonies for all Cabarrus County Schools high schools.


The Kannapolis Intimidators:

The Kannapolis Intimidators are a minor league baseball team in Kannapolis, North Carolina. The team is a Class A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox and has played in the South Atlantic League under various names and team affiliations since its inception in 1995. The Intimidators franchise moved to Kannapolis in 1995 from Spartanburg, South Carolina, where they had been a Class A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. Debate raged in the Kannapolis area over what to name the team, with the team's front office changing how it answered the phones almost constantly - from "Piedmont Phillies" (in reference to the region of North Carolina that Kannapolis is situated in), to "Kannapolis Phillies," and for a time even "Lake Fisher Phillies" (Lake Fisher is a small reservoir that sits near the team's stadium).




The Carolina Panthers:

The Carolina Panthers are a Professional American football team based in Charlotte, North Carolina, representing North Carolina and South Carolina in the National Football League. They are currently members of the South Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The Panthers, along with the Jacksonville Jaguars, joined the NFL as expansion teams in 1995. In their 14 years of existence, the Panthers have compiled a record of 115–121, and appeared in Super Bowl XXXVIII in Houston, Texas.



The Charlotte Bobcats:

The Charlotte Bobcats are a professional basketball team based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The team is part of the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference in the National Basketball Association. The Bobcats were established in 2004 as an expansion team, two seasons after Charlotte's previous NBA team, the Charlotte Hornets, relocated to New Orleans and became the New Orleans Hornets. The Bobcats play their home games at Time Warner Cable Arena in uptown Charlotte.

The Highland Creek:

The Highland Creek subdivision in North Carolina is one of the largest in the state. It is home to approximately 13,000 residents. The community features an 18-hole golf course, five community swimming pools, parks, playgrounds and walking trails. It spans over two counties: Mecklenburg and Cabarrus. Highland Creek also straddles two cities: Charlotte and Concord. The city of Concord completed the annexation of its portion of Highland Creek in June 2007.



Tradition Golf Club:

The 18-hole "Tradition" course at the The Tradition Golf Club facility in Charlotte, North Carolina features 6,978 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 . The course rating is 72.9 and it has a slope rating of 140. Designed by John Cassell, II, the Tradition golf course opened in 1996. IRI Golf Group manages this facility, with Doug Ballenger as the Golf Professional.



The Warrior Golf Club:

Warrior Golf Club is nestled only 20 minutes from the Lake Norman area on Lake Wright Road off of highway 152 west in China Grove. Tiger World:

Tiger World is a nonprofit animal conservation and educational center dedicated to rescue, rehabilitation, and preservation of exotic animals. We are open to the public for educational guided tours and walkabout self-guided tours in Rockwell, NC. We are thankful to Rowan County for welcoming Tiger World to their community. We have received so much support from the people in this area. Tiger World would not want to be anyplace else.
